For education professionals

When the holidays are no longer enough

You put in your hours and often more, the work never seems finished. In the car home the day still echoes. On Sunday the list already starts. You know exactly what you should do. That is precisely the problem.

In my practice in Eersel I work with education professionals who get stuck through stress, tension or burnout. With ACT and visual therapy. Not by talking about it longer, but by experiencing it differently.

Perhaps this sounds familiar

  • Your head keeps counting: that one child, that conversation, the email still waiting.
  • You say yes while thinking no. You only notice once you are home.
  • Sound, light and bustle land harder than they did a year ago.
  • You sleep, but wake up unrested.
  • You wonder whether this work still suits you. That question startles you.
  • From the outside it looks fine. That makes it harder to say anything about it.

These are not signs that you are doing something wrong. They are signs that a lot has been asked of you for a long time, and that something has become stuck.

First make, then understand

In education you are practised at explaining. Analysing, naming, solving. That is a strong skill and at the same time the reason talking alone is often not enough. You already know, and it does not help you.

That is why we work visually. You choose material and you begin. What emerges is allowed to be ugly. In the image, what you have no words for during the day comes to lie outside of you. You can look at it. That is different from being inside it.

Three beats
Calm.

An hour in which nothing has to happen. No bell, no schedule, no door opening.

Insight.

Distance from thoughts that sweep you along. Not to get rid of them, but so you no longer have to follow them.

Growth.

Small choices that match what matters to you. At work and beyond.

Background

You do not have to explain the context.

I taught for more than ten years and then worked for about ten years as an internal support coordinator. I know what a group overview is, what a parent meeting does to you and how a team changes in November. That saves time: you can start at the beginning instead of at the explanation.

Somewhere in that career I got stuck myself. ACT set me on a different track and eventually became my profession.

What I went through is not the reason you should be here. It is one moment in a long career in education. Above all it means I am not startled by what you tell me.

Referring someone or consulting.

If you would like to refer an employee or client, you can call or email directly. In a short consultation we look at whether this is a good fit and what a realistic programme would be. Employees can also register themselves; I then make contact within two working days.

Good to know
  • Visual ACT therapy is a psychosocial programme. I do not make diagnoses and do not treat psychiatric disorders.
  • I do not report on the content of sessions. A short progress meeting is possible, always with the employee consent.
  • A programme can run alongside occupational health guidance or a reintegration programme.
  • Invoicing in the name of the school or employer is possible. I inform you about rates and any reimbursement in advance.

Twenty minutes, no obligation

You do not need to know or want anything yet.

In a phone call you briefly describe what you are running into and I explain how I work. Then you decide in your own time whether it suits you.
